Captain Cook

The overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom began with the visits of foreign countries. These visits started with Captain James Cook. Captain Cook was born on November 7, 1728. He died in when a fight broke out among his crew and the Hawaiian locals on February 14, 1779, just over the age of fifty. Captain Cook traveled to Hawaii with his crew of two ships in 1778, the first person to travel to these islands other than the locals. Captain Cook was the first of many to visit the islands and teach the Hawaiian things about the foreign lands and people. When the missionaries came after the islands were conquered by Kamehameha, they began to spread the word of God to the Hawaiians. Captain Cook, the first person on the islands from another country, became the one to discover a new realm, unchanged by foreigners but ready to mold into one of the most popular places in the world.
